In this feature we highlight Masters Champion Sprinter Rondrick Parker! Mastering his craft and fine tuning his focus to claim his potential!
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the seniors, the 50 age and up group of athletes that are still running and jumping. when I get up in age I want to be just like them still competing and practicing on my craft. Also still have the burning desire to kick some butt.
What's your specific athletic goal for this year?
My current season goal is to run a 10.43. This year I went 10.56 at the USA Master Track and Field Championship in Iowa.
What is the most significant challenge you are facing in reaching your goal?
The most significant challenge I face is having enough money to achieve my goal. Having money to pay a coach, messages, and making sport medicine appointments. Also trying to buy the right kinds for food to stay healthier.
What is a technical aspect of your sport you are focusing on or have previously improved?
A technical aspect of track that I am focusing on is my block start. If I can have a better low heel recovery and a first quicker and explosive step and can have a better performance.
‘There is a saying practice makes perfect, I say a perfect practice makes successful people.’
~ Ronderick Parker
What is your approach to Recovery?
My approach to recovery to just to relax, get a good cool down jog in and a nice stretch. sometimes a massage or a ice bath can get the soreness out.
